Hey TTL... it's been a busy few weeks. I'm sending you a few of the highlights. Like always if I've missed ANYBODY please let me know ASAP!
World Duathlon Championships...
- Cindy and Doug both raced at this prestigious race in wet and rainy conditions. From what I understand the quality of the competition was fierce, but out 2 TTL athletes raced to and even above expectations! Cindy pr'd her 10k 4 weeks after doing and IM, and Doug finished 6 min ahead of expected goal time! CONGRATS! (Doug did a one line race report... I'll quote if for you with the swear word taken out. "It f#$@in hurt!")
Harvest Half...
- Paddy, Steve, and Trish all had PR's for the Half Marathon in this race. It was a tough course and I was thrilled to hear how they did. Steve had a rough day but pulled it out to take about 2 min off his Police Half time. Trish and Paddy who are in the "+50" crowd both had GREAT days with Trish finishing about :30 in front of Paddy.
- Sue E. had a great first 8k and then was derailed by ITB pain. I'm amazed that she got through... a mental victory for sure and I'm extremely proud of her for getting it done. Now we need her to mend that darn ITB so she can get back at it.
- Alfred ran hard and executed well! He has been working hard on his running, and seeing improvements. (The improvements might not be quite as fast as he'd like... but they are coming! I told him about a 42 year old woman who had a 48:48 10k pr from about 2000 till maybe 2004, and a 1:50 Half Mary PR for about 4 years too... that is now coming well below that 13 years after she started running 10ks!!!! For some of us it takes longer than others. I'm a case of "in it for the long haul"... and it's paying off!)
- Toni had a rough day at the race. She had a race plan, but a last minute change with runners is what I believe caused a hard hitting case of ITB pain. Her and Sue were in the same boat. Toni was disappointed but there were some good lessons learned. This is a stepping stone to the Vegas Marathon in December.
Melissa's
- I'm really worried I'm going to miss some people from this one... James had a HUGE PR! I sent out his race report already so you should know the story. CONGRATS James. You've been working on your running and it's paid off!
- Leana didn't hit a pr that day, but she raced well and was very happy with the experience. I've sent her race report as well!
- Kelly did Melissa's and had a great day! This girl is beating the odds and keeps running! She is tough as nails! Good job Kelly!
- Tara ran a gentle 22k with friends. In the end it might have causes some nigglies to run that slow, but she had a fun social day!
- John Bosma ran a focused hard race at Melissa's. It was a mental victory to fun that hard and feel that much discomfort during the race. John was proud of himself for going to that place while racing... congrats John!!!
BowRiver Race
- Alfred did this one on his own and I was VERY HAPPY to see him drop under 50 min for a 10k which is where he belongs:) Good job Alfred!
Canmore CAUSE Run...
- Sarah and Kelvin did this one together. Kelvin set the pace and had an "almost" 10k pr a few weeks after IM! They finished together holding hands.. NICE!
Sooke Half Ironman
- Susan had an IMMENSELY successful day! A big half ironman PR on a riduculously hard course!!!!!! Her goal was to go sub 1:50 on the run and shattered it hitting 1:46.
- I had a good day at Sooke as well. It was not a half IM pr for me but I was very happy to be 5th woman overall behind 3 elites and 1 age grouper. It was a good confidence booster going into Clearwater. Now I need to get training again!
I hope I've covered off everyone! I was in Edmonton teaching a coaching course this weekend and am back on catch up mode! I'll get to backed up emails by the end of the night! THANKS!! Happy Monday and stay warm.

Hey Team Tri Life... hope you had a good weekend and got a chance to get outside and enjoy the nice weather yesterday! I have few results to mention...
- Roy, our ultra runner extraordinaire got a little more than he bargained for at the Kelowna marathon on Sunday. The word on the street is that there weren't enough volunteers, and the volunteers they did have didn't know the course well. This mean a number of people, including the leader of the marathon, went off course. Roy ended up running approximately 46km and EVEN WITH THAT had a marathon PR! It's a good thing he likes ultra's. He took it in stride in an impressive "what can I do about it" way. Congrats Roy! Your result and your attitude towards the extra distance are both outstanding!
- Susan... this is Vancouver Susan... she threw a little 10k race into her marathon build. Her previous best was 47:??... and she now is a proud owner of a sub 45 min 10k. She got it by 1 second... but she got it! Nice work Susan!
- Pamela took some time off from training in September and is easing her way back into it. She had a very solid 10k on Thanksgiving giving us a great starting point reference to build from! Nice work Pamela!
- Congrats to Leana on her 10k pr read about it here http://cdnrunnergal.blogspot.com/2009/10/thanksgiving-memory-10k.html
- Our uber running Sharon had an OUTSTANDING 16k race at the Gorilla run today! She thinks she won it... no confirmed results yet... but she NAILED her goal time and race really fricking fast! CONGRATS Sharon! Your longest race to date and apparently it worked for you!
I think that's all since the Harvest Half. I hope I haven't missed anyone!! CONGRATS!! We start at Bow this Tuesday! I'm very much looking forward to it.
