Now... we had some outstanding efforts by TTL athletes on Sunday Nov 9th at the Last Chance Half Mary! What a day!
1) Chad in his first stand alone half mary did a great job, crossing the finish line in 1:47. He's on his way to the Rock and Roll Marathon in Arizona in January. This was a good test for him to show he's on the right track!
2) Leana... She had an outstanding day and a well paced race! She built effort and pace to negative split and hit a 7 min half mary PR! She was THRILLED! Great job!
3) John (aka "Posterboy): Johnny set off to run a very fast 10k and hopefully hold on! The very fast 10k part was very much true, and while he lost time in the second half, he still snuck in for a little half mary PR! That's tough to do on Ironman fitness when your Ironman was 2 1/2 months ago!
4) Michelle: Michelle has taken a bit of time to get to the half mary distance. She wanted to be sure she was ready... that's her nature and I love that she is so sure of the path that works for her! Michelle set a goal of 2:30, which I thought was conservative. She didn't want to set expecations too high and be dissappointed. Well, there was no dissappointment here as she had an outstanding day that was well pace and executed perfectly to beat her goal time by 9 minute! Way to go Michelle!
5) Sarah D.: 6 weeks ago Sarah wasn't training much (running) and I actually tried to talk her out of this race! Thank goodness it didn't work! This was her first half marathon, and she broke that elusive 2 hour time goal coming in at 1:58! I was thrilled for her and am willing to admit I was wrong in trying to talk her out of it! Awesome work Sarah!
6) Carla... she's not a TTL athlete yet, but she also had a great first half mary! I can't wait to see what we do with her once she starts training regularly with us!
Welcome to new TTL members, Susan from Vancouver (we will hopefully get to see her at our group sessions from time to time as she travels here frequently) and Lori from Calgary. That's all for now!
